Downer EDI Works is one of the divisions of Downer EDI Limited (“Downer EDI”) - one of Australia’s largest suppliers of engineering and infrastructure management services to the transport, energy, communications and resources sectors in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Downer EDI is an ASX 100 listed company with over 23,000 employees and an annual turnover of approximately A$5.2 billion.
Downer EDI Works has its Australian head office in Melbourne, and, together with its New Zealand operations, has a history that dates back well over 100 years. Today, Downer EDI Works' primary focus is on providing services for the development, asset management and maintenance of public and private infrastructure assets, including roads, rail track, utility services (power, gas and telecommunications), water supply, wastewater treatment, parks and reserves in Australia and New Zealand. The division's customer base includes an extensive list of federal and state government departments, local government in city and country areas, public utilities and commercial businesses.
Some of our most recent contracts include:
- A fifteen year road maintenance, surfacing and upgrade commission for Mornington Peninsula Shire in Victoria. This contract is to be delivered under an alliance arrangement with joint service management teams determining the execution of the contract.
- Renewal of three road maintenance contracts with the Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure in South Australia, for a period of five years covering 5,600 km of state roads.
- Renewal of the G6 Group of Councils in Adelaide (Charles Sturt, Salisbury, Onkaparinga, Tea Tree Gully, Marion) contract for asphalt and spray seal road surfacing for a period of three years. This contract extends the tenure of Downer EDI Works to twelve years for this work.
- Extension of the Northern Road Maintenance contract for the Tasmanian Government Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources, covering 2,200 km of state roads for twelve months.
- Three road maintenance contracts for VicRoads covering 2,200 km of state roads in Victoria for three years. As well as these new contracts, three others have been extended for periods of up to two years.
- Annual surfacing contracts have been renewed in New South Wales, Queensland, and Tasmania.
- Extension of road maintenance contracts with Forestry Tasmania.
